The JOY collection has been an absolute pleasure to create and watch grow. I may have started it, but its evolution has 100% been driven by YOU..the customers! Everything I create is a true labor of love, but this one has an extra special story…
After we lost our baby daughter Tyler Anne in February, I wasn’t sure what I would do with SoLayne Designs. I had zero motivation to do anything “extra” and not one creative thought was running through my brain. For weeks I actually contemplated closing down my business all together.
But right before COVID shut down the US, I had a desire for a piece of jewelry I could wear every day as a reminder of all three of my girls. I had been given an engraved necklace and I really wanted something to wear on my wrist. I started doing a little digging for new supplies and the moment I came across these letter beads I was sold! Just seeing them immediately took me back to my middle school days of friendship bracelets. You know what I’m talking about 😉
I was struck by the white and gold letters! Feeling like it was a more “mature” version of my childhood style. By this point we were in the middle of quarantine and people were locked in their homes. Knowing what it was like to be living through an emotionally difficult time away from the love and support of our “system”, I thought it might be something that others would enjoy. And once I shared my idea, you guys took it and ran!
Your custom requests and sweet messages to friends and family around the country have been a true blessing to me through a really dark time! Knowing that something I created was bringing a little JOY to others during such a devastating time in our world was many times the brightest spot in my day.
This JOY collection has:

- announced baby names
- been photographed in countless “stay at home”, maternity, and newborn photos
- encouraged cancer fighters and survivors
- helped businesses re-open
- congratulated graduates
And put a big ole smile on my face!!
